About us
What is 206ONE?
A skateboarding company.
What does 206ONE mean?
206ONE gets its name from the i-35 exit "206" to Aquarena Springs-Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. And the "ONE" comes from there only being ONE, San Marcos, Texas.
Why 206ONE?
206ONE draws its name and spirit from Stephen Michael Young, affectionately known as Lil Steve. A passionate skateboarder, artist, and dedicated San Marcos native, Steve was more than just a mentor to those who knew him; he was a force of inspiration and a pillar of support. As one of seven brothers in the Young family, Steve discovered skateboarding at a young age, and it became his guide through the ups and downs of life. This board wasn’t just wood and wheels to him—it was freedom, resilience, and expression all rolled into one.
Steve embraced his role as an uncle, and from the moment Kenley could walk, he welcomed him into the skateboarding world he loved. When Kenley turned seven, Steve gifted him his first skateboard, igniting a spark that would carry on his legacy. Kenley saw Steve not only as an uncle but as a role model and mentor. Both would later share the same alma mater, Texas State University, deepening their bond with shared roots in San Marcos.
In the spring of 2021, Steve’s journey ended too soon. Before his passing, he had been building “Project 206-1,” an initiative designed to lift up the community he cherished. Through this project, Steve helped people in the Hill Country area find employment and provided them with bicycles and skateboards, a gesture that underscored his belief in skateboarding as both a mode of transport and a pathway to independence.
In the fall of 2023, Kenley founded 206ONE to honor his uncle and fulfill a dream they had shared—to travel the world through skateboarding. 206ONE is more than a brand; it embodies a way of life that champions community, creativity, and an unbridled passion for skateboarding. It’s a tribute to Steve’s memory and a continuation of his dream—a space where skateboarding isn’t just a sport but a vehicle for change, freedom, and boundless expression.
Lil Steve
Kenley and Steve both embrace a philosophy of unity and collaboration in skateboarding. Their shared belief that “we’re all ONE team, with the same dream” highlights a communal approach to the sport. This means they see all skateboarders as part of a single community working together towards common goals, such as advancing their skills, promoting the sport, and supporting each other. Their ideology emphasizes that success in skateboarding isn’t just about individual achievements but also about the collective progress and camaraderie of the entire skateboarding community.
